19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player won his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.
The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
